On August 28, severe storms tore through San Antonio, and this time the damage landed right on our own doorstep. The Salvation Army's Center of Hope on Elmira Street — home to our Emergency Family & Single Women's Shelter, Social Services Center, and Worship Center — sustained roof and structural damage in the storm. This is more than a building. It's where more than 100 women, children, and families find a safe bed each night, where neighbors come for help paying a bill or putting food on the table, and where our community gathers to worship.
